Lyngby confirm Sebastian Kristensen will sign for Everton this summer

They may not get as much coverage or acclaim as the likes of FC Copenhagen, Brondby or even FC Midtjylland, but Lyngby have been producing a number of promising talents in recent years.

Lyngby have helped kickstart the careers of Yussuf Poulsen, Emre Mor, Jacob Bruun Larsen and Frederik Sorensen, who are all playing top-flight football around the world.

It now seems that another player is leaving Lyngby for a big move, as defender Sebastian Kristensen is heading to the Premier League with Everton.

The 16-year-old is another of Lyngby's top young talents, and it seems that he has done enough in youth games and even on trial at Everton to earn a move to Goodison Park this summer.

Lyngby have today confirmed the move on their official website, with sporting director Birger Jorgensen offering his view on the deal.

Jorgensen admitted that Everton were impressed with his trial spell, and both Kristensen and his family have been thorough whilst considering such a huge move.

Jorgensen added that people at Lyngby are 'crying with one eye' at losing a talented player so early, but feel it's a great opportunity for him to go and succeed elsewhere – just as those before him have.

"Everton has followed Sebastian closely, had him on trial and has shown the format and willingness to get things going,” said Jorgensen. “The family and Sebastian have also been thorough, so even though it is a big step, it is well considered.”

“We cry with one eye on sending players as early as possible, but at the same time we see it as a good opportunity and something we would like to support our talents in, in the cases where it makes sense for all parties,” he added.

Kristensen will head into the Everton development ranks next season, and Toffees fans will be hoping that the teenager becomes a Goodison hero like Thomas Gravesen, rather than a flop like Per Kroldrup.

Aren't we currently banned from signing youth players? Or does the ban only count for under 16s?

Only players from other English sides I believe. Can sign foreign kids.
Yes, we're being condescending. Yes, that means we're talking down to you.
