Toffeeweb think it's Athletic Pubalgia, also known as Gilmore's Groin. My physio thought I had it a few years ago. It is a reoccuring chronic pain in the groin, which could be caused by a variety of tears in that area. It can go with rest, physio and adopting certain sleeping positions. If it doesn't, a simple mesh surgery is performed and often rehab can take 6 weeks. Obviously, like with many injuries it could be something that remains chronic, but let's be positive about this.
