Everton XI to face Man City:
Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Distin, Jagielka, Naismith, Pienaar, Osman, Gibson, Fellaini, Jelavic.

Subs:
Mucha, Oviedo, Heitinga, Hitzlsperger, Barkley, Vellios, Gueye

Hope Baines isn't being rushed back...

With the exception of Mirallas not being there, that's not far off the best we could hope for Imo. Good point about Baines. would hate for him to be out for weeks. Cringe!!
Steinbeck's maxim: “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”.

Have a right sided player available to take his place?

Perhaps it's the wrong game to play him but we have that young lad Kennedy, I know he is all potential at the moment but after some of Naismith's displays he can't be any worse. I would also consider Coleman there when he is fit (Not because he is great I just don't see Naismith offering us anything there). You could also try Hitz in the middle and put Ossie on the right for a bit (again not his best position but at the moment he can't be much worse than Naismith). I did acknowledge we had a small squad but it seems no matter how bad Naismith plays on the right he gets a game. I personally would like to see him supporting Jela up front more but the limitations of our squad make that unrealistic I guess.

We have a good record against Shiteh but given the respective squad depth we shouldn't be too unhappy if we lose and maybe accept that like last season a point here is a good one . That said there is nothing wrong with a positive substitution on 70 mins in Barkley rather than Oviedo and Velios getting 15 to 20 mins rather than the duration of extra time . COYB .

If Coleman was fit he would probably be in, trying to start Kennedy would be madness, Osman is the only option but that's a desperate move.

I personally don't see it any of those options that I listed as being considerably worse than Naismith, it's not even as if he offers a lot of defensive cover either. It's just a case of square pegs round holes whoever we play there due to our lack of squad depth.

I just don't think he is a right mid, that's not slating him, I'm sure most players wouldn't play at their best if played out of position.

Have you seen Kennedy play? That's a genuine question, I just can't ever get my head round people coming out with the "he can't be any worse" argument when they know nothing about the player they are suggesting. Osman on the right wouldn't be any better either and Naismith probably carries a better goal threat.

Can someone get Naismith and Osman in a strength program to work on their shot power?

As with any young player it's from word of mouth but if he is good enough to be on the bench he must be doing something right. Anyway game is on now.
