his performances overall are a liability. making those 2 goalline clearances does not convince me he deserves to start when i take into account how he has played and assess his attitude to playing overall.

sames applies to fellaini :P

Beggars can't be choosers. Who else can we play?
Oh well, at least Baines is still ace.

If Distin was fit I'd have him and Heitinga, but Duffy? He's been great - for a 17 year old - but he's a CB. You don't take risks on CBs as they only offer things defensively, and we have someone nearly twice his age with twice as much experience. Now I'd play Coleman over someone else at RB, as he offers something going forward. Duffy was great in that Europe game, until the goal. From then on he showed a lack of experience and his game fell apart. Lucas Neill, however disinterested, is a better choice right now. God we need Jags.

I would love a clean sheet, but I think they'll hit us on the counter attack because that's where we are most vulnerable. I think we'll be frustrated to score until first half injury time but once we bang one in the gates will open, probably see a 4-1 beatdown. Saha, Cahill, Pienaar, and Vaughn.

Vaughan would be nice.
Optomisitc time:

6-1

Saha x 3
Cahill
Felli
Vaughan

And an own goal by Jo. It's about time he scored.

Gotta be positive. Hopefully reflected in the team and tactics.

Before the three Christmas games I was hopeful of 9 points. I'd take 5 with three much improved performances quite happily now.

3-1 with 2 late goals.  Saha will give us the lead, Nugent to equalise, then Cahill and Heitinga will score after the 80th minute.

Neill is a full back playing at centre half and not doing a bad job at all.

Having Neville back will be a massive boost for us IMO.

Agreed. I'd say he should replace Hibbo in the team and get back out there with some leadership!
