The league kicks off for Everton U21s tonight away to Wolves at 7pm. the U18s start next week.

http://www.evertonfc.com/match/report/1314/wolverhampton-wanderers-u21s-v-everton-u21s

League system is a lot more simpler for the U21s this season. One league of 22 teams in which each team plays each other once. After each team has played 21 matches then they play semi finals:

1st v 4th
2nd v 3rd

And the winners contest the final of course.

U21 League results 13/14:

Wolves 0-2 Everton (Hope, Grant)
Everton 1-2 West Ham (Garbutt)
Manchester City 3-0 Everton
Everton 3-1 Reading (Long x2, Browning)
Newcastle 1-1 Everton (Hope)
Everton 3-2 Chelsea (Hope x2, Long)
Blackburn 1-2 Everton (Grant, Touray)

Top Scorers:

Hope 4
Long 3
Browning 1
Garbutt 1
Grant 1
Touray 1

Top Assists (Deflected crosses/Rebounds not counted):

Browning 1
Kennedy 1
Long 1
Lundstram 1

League Table:

Everton U21s (to play Wolves U21s): Taudul, Kenny, Touray, Junior, Browning, Pennington, Kennedy, Grant, Hope, Lundstram, Long. #EFCU21

------------------------Taudul----------------------
---Kenny----Penninghton--Browning----Touray---
-----------------Junior----Lundstram---------------
---------Hope---------Grant--------Kennedy-------
-----------------------Long--------------------------

That's just a guess, pretty sure the back 5 is right but not sure on the others as I considering Junior, Lundstram and Grant all to be CMs.

Jonjoe Kenny is the youngest player at 16.

Sorry for delays...

GOAL FOR EVERTON! Hope is in the right place to hammer past Flatt from eight yards out.1-0 to #EFC

GOAL FOR EVERTON! One straight off the training ground as Grant curls a 25-yard free-kick into the top corner. 2-0 to #EFC.

How is Hope progressing as a player?  I know a couple of seasons or so back he seemed highly rated but then lost his position as a centre forward and moved out wide... is he one to watch for the future or was the early hype a bit unwarranted?

Only scored 2 goals in 18 appearance last year for the under 21s, don't know how/where he played though. Got a contract extension in the summer though, so this is the final season of his contract now.

We beat Wolves 2-0 tonight so:

Wolves 0-2 Everton
Middlesbrough 1-3 Leicester
Reading 4-2 Newcastle
West Ham 3-0 Aston Villa

Cheers for the info mate... I know when he first broke through in to the under 21's he was bagging them for fun but that stat suggests he's either gone off the boil or is being deployed out wide most / every game.  Bit of a shame as sounded like he was a natural finisher

He was the main man striker wise at youth level before Chris Long emerged in his year group. As mentioned he plays wide more often than not nowadays.

The Nextgen Series has been cancelled this year. Martinez was trying to get us in it but apparently can't continue due to lack of funding probably due to the new competition from UEFA for an u21 champions league (based on clubs in this years proper champions league group stage teams)

A shame.

50 minutes gone and were 3-0 down to Man City at the Ethiad. Absolute abysmal, they were one of the worst teams last season.
