In terms of results, West Ham have made a similar start to us having amounted 5 points from their first 4 games placing them just below Everton in 10th should Swansea fail to beat Liverpool in this evening's game. Their only victory coming on the opening day and falling to their only defeat in their last home game to Stoke.
West Ham have scored just 2 league goals in the premier league so far having gone the last 3 games without scoring. It's little surprise seeing as they've amounted the least amount of shots on target of all premier league clubs this season with just 6 shots on target in 4 matches. They managed 9 shots in their last home game against Stoke but none of them were on target whilst Stoke were given the freedom to fire 15 shots at the West Ham goal.
Over the summer they forked out on Liverpool misfits Andy Carroll for a fee rising to £17.5m and Stewart Downing for a fee in the region of £5m adding to their January signing of Joe Cole to complete the trio, all three of which were injured for the goalless draw against Southampton on Sunday. With Carroll's long term injury leaving them short up front, they signed Mladen Petric on a free signing after the Croatian left Fulham in the summer.
Everton
Both goalscorers from the last time we travelled to West Ham are unavailable for this game as Steven Pienaar picked up a knee injury in training to keep him out of the Chelsea match whilst Victor Anichebe has since moved on. Darron Gibson and Antolin Alcaraz are believed to be making positive strides to be ready for the weekend's match whilst Arouna Kone has also picked up a knock.
Action Areas:
Thus far Everton have spent more time of the play in the opposition's third of the pitch than any other team in the league alongside Tottenham Hotspur. However only 6 teams in the league have spent more time in their own third compared to Spurs who have spent the least amount of time there by a distance.
The last time Everton lost to West Ham was 6 years ago in a 1-0 defeat at The Boleyn Ground thanks to a goal from from Bobby Zamora
