This is the type of game that we need to win. Put sown a statemement to the likes of SPurs/Liverpool etc. that we a top team and we can win comfortably at places like Villa park

Don't worry - he has soft tissue damage this week according to the BBC who reminded me that this is the most-played fixture in the English top flight. Aston Villa have 72 wins to Everton's 71 from the previous 196 league meetings.

Benteke expected to start btw.

he's still only a 'could' start. let's hope it stays that way :)

as g lewis says - unlikely he'll be as profligate as the hull players.

I hate the way they present the team out of order like that. Makes it tricky to work out the formation.

So it would be:

Howard; Coleman Jags Distin Baines; Mirallas McCarthy Barry Pienaar; Barkley; Lukaku

Quite apt that it is 150 years to the day since the formation of the FA, and here is the most played fixture in the English League calendar.

And I personally hate this fixture in terms of nerves, so want to beat Villa always, but very rarely do, even when we deserve to.

Just hope we put up a consistent display across both halves, and its a generally decent one. Hope the goals will come from that. Want to avoid a great one half / shitty the other type performance we have had in a few games, unless we happen to score 5 in the great one!

Trowel

Tonev looked dangerous in pre-season but has been lacking fitness - bit of an unknown, one to keep an eye on.
