Miralles worthless? You people are crazy--he had two assists today! His overall game may have been below par, but when you finish with two assists you contributed.

Funny ro read all the criticisme of Lukaku and Mirallas...They are posing a threath, they are scoring goals and creating opportunities and todays showing was not about them not beeing at their best...People also praise McGeady and offensively he did alot of good but defensively he was not up for it, but he just needs a bit of time.

Stones was shockingly bad today getting dragged out of position way too much giving Swansea huge chances, but the main problem was our style of play.

With offensive wingers and wingbacks we need DMC's with pace and work rate. Today Swansea dragged our DMC's out to fill the gap our offensive wingers had given and with fast movement on the ball McCarthy and Barry never managed to get back to positions. Distin was amazing today never getting tricked into trying to make up for this while inexperienced Stones went for it all the time. For me this is all about a dominoeffect and nothing about Lukakus poor first touch.

Liverpool play partially a bit like us but they havent had the same problem because of a incredible work ethic from Henderson and Allen.

Our main need is one more defensive minded midfielder with high energy and pace, If we get That our front players will blossom even more.

For me Lukaku is pure quality and with 3 offensive midfielders and a passing mentality I cant understand why Lukaku should play a hold up game...he should be our spearhead scoring goals like today and he knows That game.

For you critics are You missing the days of Kevin Kilbane and Marcus Bent? I put my hands up for quality and embrace magic Mirallas and Lukaku!

Also any argument on Mirallas and Lukaku can be countered by saying one of those is our top scorer and the other has provided our most assists, and both provided what they get paid to do yesterday
You think Lou Bega knocked it out of the park with Mambo number 1?!No but he kept at it!

Thing is though they were shit yesterday, lukaku has been shit since his haircut, if Naismith lost the ball as much as Lukaku he would getting fucking raped on here,  if Osman lost the ball as much as him the same would happen, Mirallas' form has been way off but he has the luxury of been a quality player and some things still happen for him he loses so many fucking tackles though it is annoying.

Now lets  get to the passing shall we Mirallas as we all know has been off and his game has suffered but he can still find a pass, the only successful pass from Lukaku yesterdya was the most important one that led to his goal.

They both have quality but at the minute I cannot see Lukaku becoming anything other than a second season Yakubu
A Lukabu if you like

Mirallas will return to form and become the player we all know he is.
It's the roll I way

I pretty much disagree with every point you've made there. Funny how we all see things differently.

Barry and McCarthy ran all day. I thought Barry in particular never put a foot wrong and was willing to accept the ball in tight spaces. McCarthy could have been more progressive but there was quite a bit of space between the midfield and defence. Those two have put in an immense amount of work this season with no rest and no cover. They have been fantastic.

Stones was fine. There was one pass that almost led to a goal yes but I really hate this mentality that defenders should just go through the standard set if boring predictable passes. Stones can run and pass the ball extremely well and he has to be able to learn. He's getting amazing experience.

I've lost it with Lukaku. I don't care how young he is. He is a big lad but pretty much lost every battle yesterday. We do need him to hold up play but he can't do this. There were periods yesterday where the ball just kept coming back at us. That is when you need to have someone you can count on to release the pressure. And even if that wasn't his game, his pace is hardly electric and that isn't going to change with age either.

I always liked Mirallas but his decision making is quite poor.  McGeady did do defensive work yesterday but he obviously doesn't have that understanding with Baines like Pienaar.

Mirallas has no interest in link up play, or anything he cant look like a hero in. It's not a new thing, he's just not a team player, and never will be. He's a MOTD player. The sooner we'd get rid the better, i'd try for some kind of exchange with kagawa, Moyes loved him

Kagawa would be fantastic. Especially for Barkley. Won't happen though. I can see him being wasted as a bit part player at United or returning to Dortmund if Klopp hasn't taken over at United by then.

Everton Mint

Just watched nearly the full game again (on Sky) and have to say we were really poor and Swansea very unlucky.

Howard kept us ahead and Distin was superb but no-one else really impressed and our ball-retention was the worst Ive seen all season.

Barkley gives the ball away too much and leaves us overrun in MF and I think Osman should still play before him if Pienaar isnt fit. Pienaar's ability on the ball is so important to keep us ticking that we need a replacement if he's out. Osman might not have the magic of some but he is still a fine first-touch player and can create and score as much as Barkley can.

At the back we are badly missing Jags and Stones is on a very steep learning curve.

The usual organization in defence was sadly lacking. No Jags when injured spells mayhem. Yesterdays performance was one of those occasions. Mcgeady looks great, but was at fault to a certain degree for the Bony goal. He will get fit and sharper and as most can see is the player Martinez claims him to be. I'm not sure about his defending but time will tell. Will Roberto sacrifice a more practical approach in defence for the virtue of Mcgeadys obvious attacking abilities? Jags absent from defence is a big miss (and it always shows) as is Pienaar in his role with Baines. When Pienaar is unavailable and Jags is unavailable too, We really need someone with an attacking mentality tenaciously closing down and getting the rest to notice that virtue is available and is on the pitch. I don't mind if I get slated but that player has to be Naismith. No bite in the lower line of attack with Jags and Pienaar out, is a constant concern and leaves a hole in midfield.

Im amazed at some of these ratings.
Howard- 8 It seems high but he kept us in the game numerous times.  I know his job is to save shots but if the defence were doing their job he wouldnt have to. Some brilliant saves esp that one off Bony at the Park End. Excellent. MOM by a mile.
Baines- 5 It would have been lower had he not scored the penalty.  Cost us the equaliser and tbh wasn't his usual self.
Distin- 4 Like a lot of players not tight enough esp on Bony. For someone who has scored 17 goals you'd stick to him like shit on a blanket. Made some decent interceptions though.
Stones- 3 might seem harsh but he was often caught out too many times which might be why Distin wasnt his usual self as he was mopping up some of Stones mistakes which made his performance a bit shoddy. Again, stood off too many times and was uneasy on the ball at times. I know he's young and he'll be a hell of a cb but this wasnt a good day at the office. Strong lesson learnt there.
Coleman- 5 played well-ish made some good defensive blocks but also got caught out a few times.
Barry- 4 This will probably send a backlash but hear me out. When watching the game he stood off FAR too much for me. Yes he did make some vital interceptions but he stood off far too much and gave Swanses too much space which in turn gave our defence a torrid time. Worst performance in a blue shirt.
McCarthy- 3 Again I know ill get a backlash but he was anonymous today. Like Barry gave Swansea too much space. When they both play bad it shows.  Didnt offer anything today very ineffectual.
Mirallas- 5 only because he got two assists. Id give him a pre season and if hes still the same ship him out. Loved him when he arrived but he has gone spectacularly downhill.  Shouldn't have scored the 4th too. Often used to describe him and it is again: frustrating! !
Barkley-6 did well for the pen and also scored. Tried to force forward play and get the ball up the field. Could have been higher if he had been a bit more defensive minded. Hed have flourished in this game if Swansea weren't so tight on him.
McGeady-7 Brilliant today there were flashes were you thought hed take the game by the scruff of the neck. Ran everywhere always wanting the ball and trying to make something happen. Mirallas should take note.
Lukaku- 5 again would be lower had it not been for the goal.  Lets see how many he scores this season.  He scored 17 for west brom last season so really he needs to scored another 8 to say he's progressed which I can't see him doing. Id take him next season on loan and buy Bony he was quality today again Lukaku take note.
Subs
Osman 5 did ok just did what osman does and tried to nullify Swansea.
Naismith 5 did well and nearly broke for the 4th.
