Think Besic has been absolutely outstanding.

What a cracking evening, only marred by McCarthy. Besic and Garbutt superb, Big Rom was magnificent, Hibbert, Jags, Distin and Howard were all excellent, McGeady ran his legs off. Loved it.

Not only was this fixture arguably the toughest on paper, but we were playing pretty much the 2nd best team in Germany. Wolfsburg may have dominated and they may have had a bit of bad luck, but we dealt with them very well and the pass for our second goal in particular was excellent.

Given our injury situation, I hope in the Krasnodar game, Martinez gives many of the first team players a rest and tries a few of the youngsters including Browning, Garbutt, Galloway plus Atsu, Kone and maybe Robles can get some game time.

There's probably people on this site who've got a shout at getting a game against Krasnodar, no danger.

Didn't shy from the ball either. Constantly was tracking back to Howard to pick up the ball at the back. Steal at the price we got him for.

Exactly this. As well as being typically combative, he took the ball of Howard numerous times, and in some very dangerous positions he took care of the ball with real composure. Loves a little 360 pivot to wrong foot someone.

Besic is better than McCarthy in tight spaces. He can wriggle out of trouble nicely.

Anyone got a video of the second goal? Missed it while on my way home fro work :(

Haven't got it, but you're in for a treat. It was beautiful.

A lot of us were saying that we should've gone for De Bruyne when he was being frozen out at Chelsea. Reckon our chance is gone now, but Perisic might be gettable.

He was pretty good last year on loan at Sevilla. Surprised no-one's picked him up on a perm tbh.
