Can't we just swerve this 'if howard done that etc' stuff and just praise what was a good goalkeeping display?

Something we've very rarely seen from howard over the last year.

He had a decent game.

The last save was very good.

Good save in the pens too.

But he was very dodgy early on and was a bit bizarre on the goal, although the main problem was no-one marking a player in the 6 yard box.

If Howard has that game no-one notices.

That's what happened last time.

Robles has a standard game and it's elevated to a level above what anyone would say about Howard because they're fed up with him.

But it was better than anything Howard has produced for a good while

course he will be dodgy early doors, he never plays plus its a total makeshift defence.

Whats the point anyway, Martinez has just said Howard will be back next week.
I have to return some videotapes.

Vamos lá Everton!

Everton couldn't win as a team in 120 minutes and so by my calculations his penalty save won the game.
By them calculations Nathan redmonds miss won Everton the match or the three penalty takers who scored won the match too so stop being daft.

Spurs? Southampton? Swansea?

No better than any of those.

To be fair, in comparison to the 'average' Robles performance, he had a stormer tonight. Even ignoring the overly dramatic saves.

Still not good enough to be Howard's replacement though.

Spurs he was good, yes.

Swansea, meh

Southampton was nothing special.

The good performances from him are very few and far between those though.

Apart from that what have the Robles ever done for us?

Having a different opinion doesn't make me daft Jimmy. Your glass is half empty and mine's half full?

He's making too many mistakes.

There's no-one who is saying anything otherwise.

But the Swansea and Southampton games are exactly the point.

There were some good saves and general command of the box.

Nothing special, particularly but neither was there anything tonight.

And there were still mistakes that he makes pretty much every game.

Sorry not posted in ages but am infuriated to do so!

I Find it increasingly ominous and ridiculous, that once again  1) We dont seem to cope with any sort of set pieces 2) That also extends to crosses in general and 3) (I'm sure I heard the statistic somewhere)  we are they only side in the PL not to score from one yet, directly or indirectly. Are we just giving set pieces a miss in training or something, its getting more absurd game by game. We aint good enough to not sort that shit out and just rely on our apparent 'total fucking football' philosophy.

I actually like Martenez and trust in him (although tough sometimes to understand) but I'm just after any reassurance on the above point(s).
