Yes I was thinking about this.

Couple of options:

One is our players really are actually good and therefore will do enough whatever a manager does or doesn’t do.

The other is that we are a bit of a “special” case, as in we’re in a no-mans land of reasonably high expectations (against actual quality) which has a big impact on confidence so that when we’re in bad form we really suffer in comparison to other rubbish teams who are allowed a bit more licence to be, er, rubbish.



It's a tough one, do you have any more options?

Amazed that commentators / pundits are surprised at the different levels of performance for them between playing at home in a massive game against a team that leaves loads of space vs an away game, expected to win, against a team with everyone behind the ball most of the time.
