Shame that Welbeck appears to be in Wenger's plans.

I'd rather Giroud

I'd rather Giroud

Me too, but he wouldn't like that.

Welbeck is a North West lad, runs all day, has a good touch, is good in the air, and has pace.

He's also made of glass, which is admittedly a drawback.

Lacazette has been anonymous again, Welbeck head and shoulders above him

I think I'd rate Welbeck higher if I didn't consider him a striker. Nowhere near clinical enough, but he has a lot of other positive attributes.

I think he'd be a dream around Rooney, Sigurdsson, Klaassen, and Sandro.

While I'd like some pace in the side, look at what Giroud did just then. Wins that high hanging ball amidst a bunch of Stoke players and drops it right in the 6 yard box for someone to tap in (for us that'd be Klaassen, Sandro, Rooney). I think we're missing that element more than we'd benefit from the likes of Welbeck. An intelligent footballer working with other intelligent players (the aforementioned Rooney, Klaasen, Sigurdsson etc).

Welbeck is good up high as well, though.

In a different way, yes.

The injuries though, if we're only buying one striker...how could you rely on Welbeck to be that player?

In general, I just think he's a streaky player. He'll get some goals then not for a while. He doesn't have the consistency of a top PL player. Lukaku through on goal, I'd say 9 out of 10 times he scores. Welbeck...maybe 6/7 out of 10.

Welbeck's finishing reminds me of Tony Cottee/Andy Johnson. Head down and hit it as hard as possible without too much regard for where the 'keeper is.

Giroud doesn't want to come here. We can't kidnap him. At least Welbeck would still be a possibility. Personally, I think Welbeck would be a good addition to the team. :)

The only worry I would have would be his poor injury record.

He's a good link up player, and offers the versality of being comfortable out wide.

Yeah, Giroud isn't coming. However, it was more the type of player I think we're after (for good reason).

I'd not mind Welbeck in either, if we had another player like Dzeko or some such arriving too.
