Yet again baines was taking the corners last night,, i would much rather see gylfi taking all set pieces seeing thats what he's good at,,that way if the corner goes pete tong we wont have baines running back to defend

Seems typical of the Koeman reign that he'd sign someone for his assists and "productivity" and then not have him use one of his best skills. I can only think it's because we're a fairly small team and he wants Sigurdssons height in the box.

Then again who signed all these smallish players and brought in a deadball specialist in the first place???
There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch.

Sigurdsson will contribute far more goals and assists than Gareth Barry. That's a fact. He's far from a "nothing player".

Let's see how many extra set play goals we get for our 45m. It's all very well saying he did more than Barry but you'd have to take the set play goals from last season away from it

If we got 14 last season and get 15 this. Sorry but that isn't Sigurdsson is great he was involved in 15 goals. That's fucking 1 for our 45m

There is no reason to compare Sigurdsson with Barry, they are completely different players. Barry didn't even take set-pieces for us so I'm not sure where the comparison is coming from. If Sigurdsson is involved in 15 goals this season, then it will be 15 for our 45m. Stop chatting shite.

Get off his back he's only just got here, amidst a team who look lost and a tough run of fixtures.

As I've said previously, we have five games after the Man U one to expect to see a major improvement both in player performances and team shape and effort. If we don't see it then by all means crack on but let's not single the lad out, he's just joined and he's being made a scapegoat already.

15 and an improvement of 1. So we'd have gained 1 for our 45m. Unless you're suggesting we wouldn't have any without him

The comparison with Barry is the stat that says from open play he created exactly the same amount of chances

I'm not singling him out either. Baines is finished, we don't have a decent right back as cover, Keane looks a bit crap, Williams seems to get worse, DCL isn't our Harry Kane, Rooney is finished. There's plenty to go around this is the Sigurdsson thread though

I do like Pickford, Coleman, Jagielka, Bolasie, Lookman, Davies, Gueye though.

He's not shit like.

Just not really the type of player we need and it shows on the pitch.

At Swansea he had a team built around him. Here he's a cog in a very faulty machine and he's tasked with fixing it

He needs to be the main man, or play in a team that plays open, expansive football so he can come alive in the final 3rd.

He's been bought purely based on his stats with no thought of how to implement him into a system.

Same goes for a lot of players we've signed

I agree with a lot of that but he's our 45m signing (ouch) and he's a decent player in his prime. We need to be building the team around him, he needs to play No 10 every week as a fixture and told he's the man. Rooney needs to be told to stay up top and then we work around them from there.

At the minute it changes every week so no-one knows where they are supposed to be. Get them two in their best positions, get two banks of four behind them and let's get some balance back into the side. Push people like Vlasic and Sandro out wide and tell them to get chalk on their boots which will allow Sig the space and movement to do what he does.

I like him and I think he could be a top player for us, in his best position and with some decent support around him.

The problem is you're comparing Sigurdsson's potential output this season, with the output of the whole team last season. You've openly admitted you don't rate Sigurdsson and you're trying to manipulate irrelevant stats to suit your agenda. Clueless.

This. Maybe with the exception of Sandro out wide.

No I'm going over the top. He's a decent player. Not sure he's good enough though and on top of that not the player we need. Unfairly he's going to be judged against what we should have signed

Gylfi created 25 chances from open play last season the same as gueye and barry

The whole team from set plays. They are kind of the same thing assuming Sigurdsson takes all the set plays (though oddly in fairness to you that hasn't been happening so far) set plays are finite. If he's taking them someone else isn't. Unless you're suggesting we are going to get infinitely more corners with him playing
