Well happy with that. ;D

The media will expect him to change his mind. He still can, and make southgate grovel later. After not having to do any England duties for 9 months.

Think he's spoke to Southgate and Southgate has told him he wants to continue experimenting with shite like Livermore so he's jacked it

This is probably right

Slightly worrying the way things are going half our team will be under the tutelage of Southgate shortly if they carry on improving.
But they'll be used to playing together under proper tutelage so maybe it won't matter?

Pleased with this.

While he needs games to be at his best, he doesn't need to be playing 60 odd at this point in his career.

Well assuming we're not winning more than the EL; then he can play 60 for us.

;)

According to the (generally red biased but cannot be in this instance) Liverpool Echo we could rack up 72 fixtures if we reach the finals of everything we are currently eligible for.

60 matches only requires something like getting out of the group in Europa and last 16 of the domestic cups.

Gonna be a busy season after we win tomorrow!

Quite surprised by this, but it's great he's putting club before country.

I wonder if James McCarthy could retire from international football as well.

PL 38

EL 19 (4 quals, 6 group, 8 k/o, 1 final)

So that's 57.

Could be another 11 if we get to the final of both domestic cups but let's not get ahead of ourselves ;)

Could be another

..............expect an announcement from McCarthy  saying he's retiring from club football to concentrate on his international career.
