It was great Gareth Southgate called me this week to tell me he wanted me back in the England squad for the upcoming matches. I really appreciated that

Great for us that he is focusing all energy at club. After City game, he sounded like he was hoping to be selected, so to my way of thinking there are 2 main possibilities.

1. Pick me Gareth....I've been selected? shove your pizza hut up your arse.

2. Doesn't want to be 'part of squad' for qualifying, and otherwise there will be a media circus around each squad. Announce retirement and come out of retirement if needed, or at World Cup. No guarantee of selection, but likely to merit a place in squad.

PL 38

EL 19 (4 quals, 6 group, 8 k/o, 1 final)

So that's 57.

Could be another 11 if we get to the final of both domestic cups but let's not get ahead of ourselves ;)

I've only been regurgitating what I read yonks ago in the echo to my da today, he also said the domestic cups were only about 10 matches so now I'm wondering how the echo came to 72

72 is only if all our eligible F.A. cup fixtures were also forced into a replay, doh!

Think he's spoke to Southgate and Southgate has told him he wants to continue experimenting with shite like Livermore so he's jacked it

This. I think he has been told he has little chance of getting recalled. This is in best interest of all parties

Wow, Rooney has absolutely been a 100% ideal servant to the club.  I couldn't have been more wrong, nor more happy to be wrong.

Massive respect and apologies to you, Wayne Rooney.

Perfect timing.

119 caps & record goalscorer.

Job done.

Everton the only priority now and another few years of top performances.

It seems he was getting recalled but declined the offer.

@Jimmywhack means that he (Rooney) has swerved England as Southgate picks players like Livermore.

Not only does this mean Rooney is 100% committed to Everton, but I also believe he and Koeman believe there is something special here.

It's too bad Romelu and Ross didn't see it, but we will fight for glory with the men who want to be part of the next chapter of Merseyside history.

They've got their 4th kid on the way too. Might want to spend a bit of time at home during international weeks with the family, it's part of the reason a lot of older players decide to retire from international duty.

Can't say I particularly care either way.
Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.

Rom may well have seen it, but let's face it, he's more likely to experience it at Utd, isn't he?
