You can play in the qualifiers of one european competition and register for the group stages of the other with a second team. That is unlimited.

After the group stages you can register 3 more players for the knockout stages. 1 of these new players can have played for another team in the other competition. That is rule 17.8 of the champions league regulations.
(But if Atleti finish 3rd in their group and fall into the Europa league then Costa would be cuptied for them if we bought him and played him in our group games)

Would be staggered if this happens!

No way would this have happened a couple of years ago.

I'm only here for the cladding/Bramley Moore Dock updates

I suppose a 6 month deal for Costa is better than nothing. He can help us in the group stage of the Europa League and he will definitely be our main striker and score goals.

Surely itd only be a 4 month deal as they'd want him on Jan 1st. We'd get 6 good games out of him by the time hes got match fit. If this is the extent of our striker search then its pretty poor

A genuine question. How do you know he'd only get six games? It's pretty glib throwing your hat in the ring with unfounded nonfactual punts, that have no basis in fact.

Okay so it might have been on of the cuff quote. We have 18 league games before Jan 1st. Realistically its going to take him a few weeks/games to get full fitness so we'd probably get a good 14/15 games out of him in my estimations, is that really worth it? I suppose it is if hes our only option but id rather we werent leaving it to the last minute to get a replacement for someone everyone knew was leaving a year ago!

It is but it's a decent assumption to make on a player that's previously been prone to putting on weight that he won't be match fit if he comes to us and given he'll be playing up front on his tod probably he won't get a lot of game time till he is

Yes, it is a big assumption. That's the main reason for criticising the post. You've explained why I questioned it. I'm not questioning for the sake of it, but I do think my criticism is warranted. The assumption throws the whole logistics of the loan out of the window.

He could always get fit playing in the reserves, it was good enough for Eden Hazard.

No I can't see this actually happening either.

I do think Koeman would start playing him in the first-team within a couple of weeks of him arriving, where is the belief Costa is not doing any fitness work coming from?

it looks pretty desperate, but that's the reality of the situation - so fuck it, why not?

If we could get 18 games out of him it could be the difference of 10 points at the end of the season. Maybe we could stretch that out to 20 and give him back say Jan 20 (later in window). Would do it for sure.

I'm desperate, Dan. Will do a better job fat than Sandro.
