Was really sad to read about what you and some of the others have had to go through. Prejudice and racism have no place in our society but that feeling of sadness has diminished by the posts that have followed and the realisation that for every bigot, there are thousands who don't think that way.

There will always be dickheads and I had one this morning who told me to get on a plane and go home (I was born here but am of Mauritian descent). I don't normally respond but as I went to school with his brother and know the family as we used to go to the 8.30 mass on Sundays, I asked him what they would think about what he said to me, as with most of these mindless fools, he had no response.

You have shown great courage to post this and hopefully, you do go to the game on Thursday and see a convincing win.

I have always and will always see Evertonians as a good and nice extended family.
If I see someone wearing our jersey I always chat with them.
I have not had any trouble in UK, but at the Brann - Everton match back in 2007 I had a really disapointing and quite shocking  experience.
Was abused and threatned with a good old beat up by some fellow blues. My friend who was with me was shocked and scared for days after the incident.
Im just saying this because as others have mentioned there are some dickheads even amongst our fans.

I'm the same. I was in Disney a few years back and saw this dude in an Everton shirt, went up to him and shook his hand. And for me who's an introvert and hates crowds is a big deal. I guess it's so rare to see the jersey over here, unlike Man U or Arsenal which seem to be everywhere. I wouldn't bother if I was a supporter of those clubs as it's so common. I recently gave away a home shirt to the victims of hurricane Harvey amongst other clothes I had. Hopefully it will make a new supporter :)

You always get knobheads but I feel as a fan base we still get labelled racist because of those infamous banana throwing stunts.

I've not really thought about it before but I think out of all the non white people I know, none of them support Everton.

on a different scale racism comes in different guises....I am a scouser living in Yorkshire...there isn't a day goes by when I don't get a "scouse jibe" aimed at me..my wife is Muluccan...so we get it there as well...

I went on  coach once to watch Barnsley at Wembley with some mates, I was meeting a load of my scouse mates there who live in bmouth, on the way down me mates phoned me to ask what time we were due to arrive at the car park...one dickhead on the coach said out loud..." fkkin scousers.. I hate them more than pakis"   (forgive the language)....

I told him I was meeting 20 of me mates at Wembley and they were coming to meet me off the bus so he could tell them that....he shit himself all the way down and never said another word...cowardly mate all of them...

I have a similar experience to this most days. I have a West Country accent and live in Liverpool. Everyday I come across some prick who assumes Iím a red shite fan.
I'm fat, but it's not my fault I have a genetic condition resulting in me retaining burgers.

Im very sorry to hear that, Wish it doesnt happen as much now.
most racists are cowards and ignorant, they will continue to be racist if they get backing/support off of others, or they will do what the shithead did on the coach..

The Notorious Bally..! might just have to buy him a few pints for name dropping :)
Fucking drop it as much as you want mate hahaha you may actually get someone who knows me hahaha

We have a bit of a rep as a racist club don't we? Or we used to at least.
Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.

That's really sad to hear a fellow blue feeling uncomfortable going to watch his team. It's sad, but true that every club has an ignorant bell end element. If you want to go the match, you should be able to go without having to endure racist bollocks. It doesn't matter what creed or colour you are, you are a football fan and more importantly a fellow blue.

Racists use their club to spit vitriol at others and vent their aggression. They exist at every club, but we should do everything in our power to make sure it stops as soon as it happens, and ban these idiots.

They might be fans of our club, but they don't hold the values and ethics that make us proud to be Evertonians. I am not from Liverpool, but I have lived in the city for 3 years, and the majority of people are very welcoming and friendly, and always willing help eachother. Racists disgrace both the city and the club, and anyone seeing or hearing it has a duty to do something about it to protect not only the fan, but the institutional integrity and image of Everton.

We do not want it at our club, so it is up to the fans not to put up with it.

Deano Blue Boy

I'm sure an old poster on here Rich mentioned he had been assaulted before at an Everton game because he never had a scouse accent.

As been said before, don't let the knobheads win.  There is knobs everywhere in life.

Thank you Winny, & welcome to NSNO.

Where are you from bud?

be nice to find some fellow blues from the midlands, to attend matches with :D

Sorry to hear that Deano, some people are knobs.
What was the banana incident?  I know our club used to give Barnes abuse, but back in the 80's most clubs had a big element of racism, I think the racism prolonged the hooliganism. (get a different set of hooligans into the ground)
