This is about the strength of it. We're still a small club playing at being a big boy. Making costly errors in appointments and contract terms.

To be fair, no one on here has a clue what the termination clauses are in Koeman's contract. There could easily be a clause saying something like if you're in the bottom 5 after 10 games you can be fired with only £1m payable.

Obviously I'm making the numbers up but it's not a given that you fire a manager and then have to pay out the full remainder of their contract term.

He's starting to sound as desperate as the last Everton manager just before he got the sack.

We have form in doing exactly that and the fact we had to pay so much to get him I would be surprised if he came for a contract that had an escape route for us.

I'd like to think with Moshiri, an accountant, in charge, we'd have a bit more nous in the negotiation department on this kind of thing than Kenwright had in the past.

But as I said, none of us know. It's all guesswork.

De Boer for example only received £2m payoff when he had a contract totalling £6m.

My missus has us on a meat-free week this week. I've got a Sunday roast with no roast. Great. Bottle of red it is then.

When I read 'Sky Sports' and 'understands' I thought it would be that he was getting the bullet

I've got to say, "I thought Koeman was the man for the job". The way he adjusted Southampton's squad as his best players were sold from underneath him, was admirable. He's doing the opposite here. The quality of the football is some of the very lowest standards I can remember. There are some very high-quality players here and they are jibbering wrecks. This is all down to Koeman and the backroom staff to get a grip of. They're not getting anywhere near that. I can't see him lasting long at all, if it continues along the course it's taking.
Steinbeck's maxim: “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”.
