From our 1980's super era:

Steve McMahon is an interesting one - Kendall, by his own admission, didn't rate him as highly as others and sold him in 1983

Ian Bishop did OK; Mark Ward did OK and eventually returned, and Kendall rated him;

Richard Dunne sticks out as a big selling mistake

David Johnson, back in the early 70's, also a mistake to sell him

Gray had one more year in him - would have won the double in '86 if he had stayed!

Ian Durrant

Best player(s) we missed out on:

Archie Gemmill - 1970, on his way until Cloughie stepped in!

Bryan Robson - 1981, big Ron scuppering Kendall's intended first signing

We didn't need to replace Lineker - we won the title by not doing so!

And we wouldn't have sold Joe Royle!

Loved Latch!  The three L's - Lyons, Latchford & Lee!

Interestingly, Kendall does not mention Mick Lyons at all in his autobiography; Lyons came through during Kendall's playing days at Everton, became captain and also played for Kendall in his first season as manager; Kendall released him to Sheff Wed in 1982 as well as releasing him as coach in 1990 when Kendall returned as manager.

Did they fall out?

Ex Evertonian ball boy McMahon did eventually go on to win things and earnt a few England caps along the way

If Kendall had managed to sign Bryan Robson in 1981, McMahon may well have stayed

Just think - probably no Reid and Bracewell

Funny ol' game, Saint!

Get well, Greavsie
