...but we have a replacement lined up! It's just that his club steadfast refuse to release him, and even if he resigned we couldn't sign him as he would be on Gardening Leave, but he does want to come, honestly. That's as good as having a new manager, right?

An utter clusterfuck. Another one, following on from the summer's clusterfuck.

I really believe Moshiri has the best interests of the club at heart, but he needs to surround himself with experience and knowledge, and quick. At the moment, we are unbelieveably amateurish.

Risky, not being in a managerial role since 2011 though.

Dominic King also reporting it in the Mail, so maybe there is some truth in this?

About time we cast our net further afield than the Premiership for a manager.

Surprised Oscar Garcia's name hasn't come up yet.

I posted this in the Simeone thread, but if true, you can maybe see why the board are not in a rush to appoint anyone and you can also see why we would be linked to Van Gaal. Get him in until the end of the season, and then let Simeone commence 'the project'.

The only downside to this being, we actually have to survive the fucking season.

Jim whites today stated he hasn’t spoken directly with moshiri and all he knows is that Everton are no nearer to an appointment (didn’t name his source for that).

You know it is getting bad when even the mouthpiece is sacking it all off. Shambles.

Definitely get the feeling we are just chucking darts at the board now and seeing which number comes up.

Preparing myself for the worst this season now.

Right now, the thought of Big Sam swooping in to save us, allowing Moshiri to take up full control and sack the board off and begin his own real-life FM game is keeping me going.

Think rooney would still be ok in he middle and would give that important out ball ala Fred.

Still need a proper ‘Ever Banega’ in the middle and maybe a box to box monster..

Could Tom Davies take the Banega role? His forward passing is usually pretty decent?

And so it begins

If the extent of our ambition is Wenger and Vardy, then colour me despairing.

didnt his people sound us out though after Koeman was sacked, but said he wouldnt be willing to come until the summer

The story - from Paul Brown at the Star IIRC - was that Simeone's agent contacted us about the job, not the other way round. He was apparently interested in our project.

Jokanovic looks like he could be a good little manager, doing well at Fulham. Sessegnon loves him too, be worth it for that alone.

Not to disrespect but there's a smidgen of revisionism going on here.

If this was Walsh's first season with us then I think he'd be due a bit of lee-way and the likes of DCL and Lookman are good finds but they're few and far between.

It's not really how the signings have turned out but I just don't see what he was doing in the summer and it was his ineptitude that was a major reason for our dreadful season.

We signed four players in the Premier League for big money. Pickford, Keane, Sigurdsson and Rooney. It doesn't take a top director of football to persue those players.

Then you've got Klaassen and Martina who in my mind were probably Koeman signings and considering how they turned out, Walsh would probably accept that.

So the only senior players he brought in to the side with any real scouting involved would be Sandro and Vlasic. The former turned out to be the biggest flop in the league and the other was only signed after he'd played against us.

He went to Italy for a fucking week to supposedly talk to clubs about players and come back with fuck all.

He had all his eggs in a Giroud shaped basket and no back-up plan leaving us with an inexperienced DCL and the banished Niasse.

The fella is way out of his depth.

Add to that the players we have supposedly targeted for the summer:

Wilshire, Vardy, Jones and Smalling; they are hardly hidden gems that scream of a knowledgeable Director of Football.
