Montella would be an awful fit for this squad.

Surely Fonseca would rather stick it out with Shakhtar in the CL?

Not according to one of the fellas on the Totally Football Show.

Do you want to see Martina, Keane and Williams passing the ball around to beat the opposition press on the edge of their own box?

Why is he disloyal, exactly?

Spent three years at Estoril.

ĎSackedí at Sporting after a year for not wearing the club suit (yeah).

Quit at Olympiakos after a year.

Saw out his contract at Hull, who were only willing to give him a six month contract (loyalty works both ways).

Sacked from Watford.

So heís voluntarily left one out of his five manager jobs.

Not to disrespect but there's a smidgen of revisionism going on here.

If this was Walsh's first season with us then I think he'd be due a bit of lee-way and the likes of DCL and Lookman are good finds but they're few and far between.

It's not really how the signings have turned out but I just don't see what he was doing in the summer and it was his ineptitude that was a major reason for our dreadful season.

We signed four players in the Premier League for big money. Pickford, Keane, Sigurdsson and Rooney. It doesn't take a top director of football to persue those players.

Then you've got Klaassen and Martina who in my mind were probably Koeman signings and considering how they turned out, Walsh would probably accept that.

So the only senior players he brought in to the side with any real scouting involved would be Sandro and Vlasic. The former turned out to be the biggest flop in the league and the other was only signed after he'd played against us.

He went to Italy for a fucking week to supposedly talk to clubs about players and come back with fuck all.

He had all his eggs in a Giroud shaped basket and no back-up plan leaving us with an inexperienced DCL and the banished Niasse.

The fella is way out of his depth.

The only worry for me is if Allardyce does stay.

If he goes then it'll be Fonseca, Howe or Silva that comes in and they all fit the profile of what we should be looking for. Young managers who play attractive football.

Fonseca appears to be the number one target and I think from all the options he has his side playing the best football from the three but he's also at a league contender with Shakhtar and I'm not convinced he'll replicate those good things here.

Howe is massively underappreciated. Got Bournemouth promoted from league 2, league 1, the Championship and has kept them in the premier league for several seasons now playing good football with fairly average players. They've even improved defensively this season which is a doubt around him.

Silva is the biggest question mark out of the three but I do like him and I think he just needs to find the right club with the right resources. I think he's probably the most likely of the three to take over but certainly has plenty to prove if it's to be the case.

The candidates this time round at least seem viable improvements and there's no really terrible fit. Be happy with most of the candidates really.

Probably more down to lowered expectations isnít it.

Not going to be hard to be more popular than Allardyce
