Cereal Killer

GK: Pickford
RB: Kenny
CB: Jagielka
CB: Williams
LB: Baines
RM: Vlasic
CM: Baningime
CM: Rooney
LM: Sigurdsson
CF: Sandro
CF: Calvert-Lewin

Rooney because we need a midfielder who can pass, Beni stays at home and mops up. Sigurdsson and Vlasic tuck in to support the central midfielders. Anyone willing to run behind the defense is welcome in those CF positions.

Yeah, it's not great, but who knows at this point?

Williams over Keane?  :hmph:

I think doing that we would run the risk of being exposed in midfield again and leave massive gaps for them to exploit. If you are going to play 2 centre midfielders in a 4-4-2 they either need to be very disciplined and sit or extremely energetic and be able to cover a lot of ground so they dont get caught out when we lose the ball. Also the centre backs are playing so badly at the moment we need to protect them as well as we can. Williams and Keane were very poor last night but at the same time they got no protection in front of them to make it slightly easier.

They dont score a lot of goals so in my opinion we should be going for a solid first approach and try and exploit their weaknesses. We are going behind in too many matches, 2 behind in pretty much every game with Unsworth so we shouldnt go with an expansive attacking lineup and risk it happening again. Get a solid shape, protect the defence, frustrate them and if we can go on push on for the winner then great but the first priority for this game should be organised, solid and give us a chance of winning the game without having to score 3.

Itís so hard psychologically if you think you need to score 2 to have a chance of getting anything out of the game.

Then add in the mental pressure of being 2 goals down repeatedly and itís no wonder confidence is completely shot.

We ain't scoring three goals away from home without the pest that is Niasse, which is what we've needed to do lately, so the best we can hope for is try to keep a clean sheet and hope for something at the other end. Feels fuckin depressing saying that like as it seems like we're living in hope but we'll be grateful for anything at the minute.

An option for this game could be;

                 Pickford

Kenny  Jags      Keane    Baines

     Gueye  Schneiderlin  Sigurdsson

Lennon       DCL        Rooney

That way get the legs and running of DCL and Lennon plus some hold up play. Players who protect the ball out wide in lennon and rooney. Get a passer in Rooney high up and one in midfield with Sigurdsson. He plays deep for Iceland in a two a lot so he should be able to play a disciplined role in a 3 and link up with the front 3.

At the moment Davies isnt an option. Schneiderlin been really bad but still think he is playing better than Davies or doing less wrong. Klaassen certainly isnt an option. Even willing to try Besic!
Perhaps Sigurdsson will be able to give us more protection down the left too. Baines dropping off so he can defend his man is causing no end of trouble with the space he's leaving.

Mimic the Man City game, minus Davies if heís out. The last time we seemed anything like solid was when we played with three CBS as none of the 2 in isolation seem capable.
