It was such a good World Cup that even Mark Lawrensen couldn't justify or sustain his natural misery.

Gary Neville was my biggest loser, because I thought he repeatedly made a tit out of himself as a pundit, trying to appear controversial and trying to live up to the hype of being 'the big name' in punditry.
Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.

Yeah, you are right, but then so is Brownie.

Mexico ‘86, however, was extremely exciting, with loads of ridiculous long range screamers at high altitude!

Maradona was incredible, Brazil were on fire, and there were great performances throughout from France, Russia, Denmark, Spain to name a few.

Mexico 86 was fantastic. The best I've seen was Mexico 1970. As mentioned the rarified air made the ball do a lot. Iirc, it was the first World Cup with a new light ball, and the Brazilians were in their element. A guy called Jarzinho, was knocking them in from everywhere. Pele was at his best, and that save from Gordon Banks was out of this world. Gerd Mueller was on show for Germany for the first time.  It was also the first time we watched it on a colour tele. :)
Steinbeck's maxim: “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”.

1986 -  I was just about old enough to watch some of it, my first world cup really, that Maradona goal
1990 - Loved it, watched near enough every game, Gazza's tears ended me
1994 - Was working away in Australia so didn't see much of it at all
1998 - Literally spent a month in the pub off my face, don't remember much
2002 - Awful, was shite from start to finish
2006 - See 1998
2010 - Very average, fucking vuvuzela's!
2014 - Boss, loved it
2018 - Fav, its been superb, beer gardens, BBQ's, the weather, gutted its over.
