It is good enough on the face of it. I'm just not sure we saw anything that suggests a brighter future

As for croatia. They aren't really that good. 2 world class midfielders and 1 very good winger. They haven't got much else have they? Player for player our squad is more highly rated than theirs. Maybe that's our problem we are just over rating them. Maybe rather than compare us to dominate teams we need to accept we are always going to be underdogs and a second tier side and enjoy when we battle to relative success

Those 3 would walk into the England side, and you could make a case for Strinic, Brozovic and Rebic. They certainly wouldn't look out of place.

Their other strengths however (besides the obvious quality in central midfield) is their organisation, the togetherness of squad and how much of a shift every single one of their players puts in. Those 2 things alone can often be enough to beat a more talented yet disorganised side (eg the 3-0 over Argentina).

You've got issues
Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.

Or anything, for that matter. Seriously KoemansNumberTens....what brings you joy in life? Give us a list.

I wasn't expecting such a sincere answer. Props to you for that. Yeah, I've felt like that at different times in the past. It kinda does sound like it could be depression, but then what the fuck do I know. Got to find some sources of joy out there mate, whatever it is, otherwise we're just existing and passing time. Hope it's just a temporary thing for you.

I had zero hope for this tournament. ..then England beat a few shit teams got my hopes up  (cos I'm a footy fan) but then go out the competition on a whimper ,we're we seemed to just be any England team of the last twenty years and just as shite.

Tripier, lingard and of course Pickford all played a blinder. ...the rest were meh to shite .

Henderson
Walker

Meh to shite? Maguire and Stones were possibly the best centre halves in the tournament.

Only players in that team who did underwhelm were Alli and sterling.
