Magister, but not disclosing anything further on the circumstances of that award on a public forum. Have several professional accolades but no need to disclose those.

Does that come with some sort of helmet?

A ceremonial flute I believe
I knew that someday I was going to die, and I knew that before I died, two things would happen to me. That number one; I would regret my entire life, and number two; that I would want to live my life over again.

I always thought professor was attained with a PhD in the Uk.

When I saw it in this thread I immediately thought of the professor in Bagpuss.

I thought it was what they called sorcerers back in the middle ages.  Like Merlin.

I thought a magister was the foreign (see: Latin) name for a masters degree?

And @blargins , PhD confers the title of Doctor to the recipient.
Professor in the UK is an title given by a university to it's most respected acidemics after years of work, teaching, study & research. Ones with years of study & teaching (in the States i think it means less, basically somebody who teaches undergrads will have a professor title).
In both though, it's basically a job title - not something gained by a set course.

@Mick 1995 is almost dead on with this. "Professor" in the UK is usually given to an academic that changes the way that students/people think about a given subject. My understanding of the UK scheme is that it's pretty tough to get given the levels of publication etc. that you have attain. In North America generally, it's part of a rank (e.g Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor [this is supposed to be the UK equivalent]), and although one would hope that you have to do the same thing as in the UK, you don't necessarily. I know some right shite who have that rank and got it simply through time served.

Wasn't she given her professorship in April at Liverpool Hope University? Maybe I just read that somewhere...

Yeah, in the same way universities confer honorary doctorates they can also grant honorary professorships.

I think she may have got it for the almost miraculous work EitC do.
