It may be a risk balancing on the edge of stupidity, but I would rather keep Baines and Robinson as a cover than sign this sort of player. The lad (Robinson) was really impressive against France.

If you sign him though, you get a 26 year old first team player who is the second in line for Germany, with Baines as the rotation option and Robinson as the future option (if he develops well).
Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.

We can’t afford to gamble with both a youth player who’s yet to play a game for us and an ageing player with a poor injury record. We need a solid starter every week, and if it means loaning Robinson out for 6 months then we should do that.

Baines won’t be around forever so that leaves space for Robinson in the future.

Been banging the Robinson drum for a while now.

He impressed me massively for the under 21's last season and seems to have progressed well at Bolton.

He's very much the modern day full back

Ideal scenario;

Sign this fella
Send Robinson out on loan
Move Baines on at the end of the season and go with this fella and robinson.

I wouldn't even send him out on loan.
New fella or Baines starter. When the other one isn't starting they're out the squad and Robinson is on the bench 100% of the time.
Have him start in the 3rd/4th rounds of the cups unless we get a shit draw.

Or play Baines in midfield?

Or as part of a back three as the centre half who brings it out from the back?

Don't want him. It's going to be a PITA to type his name out every game. Typing Baines was so much simpler.

Fair enough, you've almost persuaded me.
