£30 mill?? That's quite a rise from.......

Oh i don't care anymore as long as he's good

Standard procedure for anyone buying from us now, think the fee has been agreed, sort terms with the player, tout said player around a bit more, ensure we end up paying double the original offer because we're rich mugs

Should he be paired with Holgate, then?  Do we think that pairing would work?  Then Jags/Keane for the Cups?

"cups" we don't play sufficient cup games to be thinking of having a cup team.

Mina & Keane. Holgate on the bench & Jags as squad cover.

Unless we're not in for another central midfielder, in which case i have no idea.

Jags is still our best CB for me (excluding anyone coming in).

I'm thinking we will take them more seriously this season, with no other tangible goals realistically in play.  I like the idea of trying to keep the pairings reasonably consistent, so that we have a 1st and 2nd team "unit" except when filling in for injury.

Agree that it should be Keane or Holgate alongside Mina, Jags is too old to be the starter in my view.  Have to be looking towards the future.

Not if it's 30 million euro he won't, I imagine the lower fees linked were with a buy back.

We have nearly always taken the cups seriously.
The only game i can ever remember us not taking seriously was a defeat to Leeds under Moyes i think.

Only when we've been in Europe have we done anything but send out a strong team in the cups. Slight rotation maybe.

Also, if you are talking about taking the cups seriously - whay are you promoting the idea of playing a "B-team"?

I'd like to see us play our absolute first team in every cup game, even the so called easier ones - we can always take some of the more fragile or slight injured, tired players off when the game is looking won. Far better than start with a shit team, concede a goal or 3, then try and panic chase it. Its about time we took cup games seriously...

Not a B-team, but whoever of Holgate/Keane doesn't win the starting job needs to play.  And it's not like Jags is crap.  We can leave the likes of Coleman in, etc.  Not the same as rolling out the U-23 side.

Even after we get rid of the dead wood, still will have considerable depth.
