Although it pains me to see Everton competing 7th place with these teams, who will our race be with.

Arsenal and Chelsea
They would both have to have bad seasons for that to happen.

Why? Chelsea are in a complete mess right now, Conte gone, Hazard and Willian likely to follow him, no new manager in place as yet and could still take a few weeks to sort that. Arsenal is a strange one for me, they will either have a brilliant first season under Emery or completely flop, expected to them to splash the cash, but they just seem hell bent on buying defensive journeymen right now.

Chelsea will replace them players if they leave and still have enough to be 10-15 points above us. I think arsenal will really push on this season, big year for aubemeyang

Chelsea were in a mess (finished 14th) in Mourinho’s last season but won the league the following year. Mess or not, they’ve got a genuinely world class squad and we’ve got a team of kids/plodders/might-make-its. 7th will be a good season, we really need to temper expectation. We’ll be vying with Leicester or Wolves for that 7th spot.

That said, we bring in 4 starting quality players that wouldn’t be out of place in the team’s above us, then I’ll reassess.

West Ham, good signings for them.
I have to return some videotapes.

Vamos lá Everton!

West Ham, good signings for them.

Hope it starts badly for them, fans start fighting each other, the players lose interest, Pellegrini gets sacked, they panic and appoint Big Sam on ridiculous wages despite their history with him, they get relegated

I think they’ll spend another £100m+ before the window closes. They’ll have momentum and stability, too. Could just as easily implode though.
