He’s done a very good job.

His remit was to lower the age of the squad, lower the wage bill, whilst adding quality and he’s done that.

In the short term though, he hasn’t given silva the squad needed to achieve our goals. He hasn’t given the manager the left footed wide man or centre half that he wanted, so he has to take part of the blame for that.

Make no mistake though, it’s players form previous regimes that are the problem.

Keane, Sigurdsson, Morgan and Coleman shouldn’t be starting games on the regular for us, and I suppose you can’t completely overhaul the team in a twelve month period.

He’s all long term thinking and it’s what we need after the Koeman/Walsh era. But the short term has been neglected somewhat.

I have no opinion on him as it’s been neither good or bad.

If we’re still in this state of flux around Christmas time I’ll come to the conclusion he’s not the man to take us forward. A lot can change during that time though.

Bit of cop out that. I'd understand that statement if he'd been in the job since the start of this season but he had all last season as well, that's a pretty decent sample size to have an opinion, regardless of what the opinion is.

We all formed an opinion on Martinez off a year and a bit and look how wrong we all were.

By Christmas we were starting to see the real Roberto.

So it’s fine to still hang fire on judging silva and waiting to see how things pan out over the next few months. We’ll see then if he’s the man to take us forward, or not.

Which is a fair opinion. That's my point.

I can understand people not wanting to nail their colours to a particular mast as we've seen evidence and justifiable arguments so far of the good, the bad and the ugly under him. However to say you haven't seen enough after nearly 50 games in charge to form an opinion on him is a very strange statement.

I don't think it is.

I genuinely couldn't tell you if I think he's a done a good job or bad job.

He's done ok, there's not much there to come to a conclusive opinion just yet.
