Massively shot himself in the foot with the lack of training, albeit he kinda looked and played as I remember him. I was hoping with all the fuss, heíd have shown a little bit more (even if that is unreasonable given the training/preseason situation).

Brands clearly rates him, so I expect us to give him time but heís given himself a big hole to climb out of here.

He did one good thing going forward, and one good bit of defensive play.

Other than that he looked very static, and rarely went out wide; maybe the plan was for him to tuck-in, but I doubt it with two strikers on the pitch as well.

Yes the lack of width was probably the major issue second half.

Not just him but Coleman too, encapsulated in the moment when they tackled each other running square across the pitch 40 yards from goal.

Give him a chance.

Not a long term issue.

More that how heís behaved this summer has impacted this game.

He got the most supportive response I can remember for a player who wants/ed to leave.

I just hope that that hits home and he knuckles down.

Yeah, once Walcott was struggling, and then Digne went off, we were rather narrow and predictable.

Our central midfield area was uncreative as well; maybe if we had a quicker striker up front, they would have more incentive to try through-balls.
Dignity does not consist in possessing honours, but in deserving them

Barely any space in behind as they were deep with 3 CBs.

Agree didnít help that Davies was poor but we needed to move the ball from side to side dragging them out slightly.

The two on the right moving inside certainly hindered that.

Yeah, it just added to an area that was already overly congested.

Thatís why Iím hoping that Bernard can be that quick-footed, direct dribbler to unlock games like that centrally from the #10 position, with the option to offload it wide to an equally threatening Richarlison, Walcott, or Lookman.

Yes that type was a massive miss today.

Partially because he marked himself out of the game. It wasnt like he was demanding the ball all that often.

I think our problem was our set piece delivery. They gave away tons of fouls and we had good height in the box. DCL won many headers but the delivery was poor most of the time.

Surprising as we have really good dead ball specialists. Just wasnít our day.  They happen.

Wasnít picked for the u23s was he, whether thatís because of this or this is a reaction to that I dunno.

Henry and Lookman either side for Nigeria sounds boss to me.

Between this and the trying to jump to RB Leipzig it has a feeling of either a growing maturity with a sense of purpose or a continued immaturity where he's flip flopping and making reactionary decisions.

Time will tell I suppose.
