Think it was more of a case of getting stale.

He’d done well the season before they didn’t play him.

Plus if you have similar level options then there’s less of a guarantee of playing all the time.

Wenger not a fan of players approaching 30 either is he generally speaking. Probably was looking to phase him out and sell him on.

Hopefully he won’t lose his pace for a few more years, you get sprinters in athletics still at top of their game in their early 30s
