Looked overly fired up all day though. Pushing people after decisions were given etc.
Need more of it
I still despise Clive Thomas..

Not a fantastic performance today but we showed some backbone.

Digne, Zouma, Keane, Lookman and Bernard all played well. Gana and Gomes fought all game, which is what ya need in games with proper shit weather. Made up with that!

Bit worried about Silvas substitutions and the timing of them, can't believe he waited until 78mins to make the first change, thought the game was crying out for Davies as the midfield was all over the place plus Gomes head seemed to go too, Walcott coming on was madness to me

Whether Richarlison likes it or not, he has to stay up top. Nearly all of our results this season have come from Richarlison playing as a striker, so he is clearly a player than other teams are frightened of.

They're really not.

Agree with the above.
More than happy with Gomes showing his teeth a bit today. We really need that in our team and have for a long time.
There's clearly a balance required between putting it about on the pitch and showing  skill, hold up play and spraying passes. But no player who's properly bossed the midfield at a high level hasn't had that streak of anger about him.
Hope it continues but perhaps becomes more refined.

Agree, was a risk from Silva to keep Gomes on, especially when the rain came down and made the pitch an ice rink.

I think the ref just lost control of the game by that point and the crowd was baying for blood. If the ref had a decent game, then he may have been able to make that decision with a clear mind and send Gomes off.

Gomes, first booking was ridiculous. The second incident, would have been a booking, if it wasn't for the first mistake by the ref. That first incident, had gomes on a leash for getting a red, that he just about managed to avoid. The ref was shite. Anyone who thinks otherwise, needs a straight jacket.

they had a chance in the first half where Coleman had come into the box to help deal with King and Fraser was left in miles of space out on the left. Lookman was just watching on not tracking back.
Whose fault though is that? Shouldn’t Keane and Zouma be enough to deal with the one CF in King so why did Coleman get dragged inside. Or why wasn’t Lookman coming back to help out. They really should have scored from that

Gomes got away with it a bit, but I don't think he'd have got to that kinda boiling point if not for the referee. Some decisions were truly awful.

Keane should have been on King dealing with that. Was ridiculous to have Coleman in that spot in the first place dealing with King (he did very well) let alone when you have a player sitting right behind them.

Keane should have taken charge there and pushed Coleman out wide on to Fraser.

I reckon Gomes’ fired up display was born out of frustration at his own drop in performance.

Showing commitment is all well and good, but it has to come with an element of control and calculated risk to be effective.

Plus, what we really warmed to him for was his quality on the ball, which has all but disappeared lately.

Need to keep your cool though as these things will happen. Can't afford to get sent off because you are frustrated and decide to put in silly late challenges.

Don't mind players having an edge but they should know the line between playing with an edge and simply being frustrated and making multiple rash decisions.

Another 10 games and we'll know wether Silva's tactical glass is half full or empty, signings or no signings.
