21. Leon Osman

Leon OsmanDate of Birth: May 17, 1981

Clubs: Everton, Carlisle United [Loan], Derby County [Loan]

Position: Centre midfielder

Nationality: English

Finest Everton moment: A stunning strike to cap off a fine move against Larissa in the 2008 UEFA Cup campaign, which went on to win Goal of the Season.

‘Ossie’, like Tony Hibbert, is a lad that has come through the Everton ranks to play for the first team. He suffered an injury early on in his playing career which did heavily stunt his development, as he was regarded as better than Joe Cole when both played together for England at schoolboy level. He made his debut for Everton in a game against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the tail-end of the 2003/04 season. His break-out season came in 2004/05 when he scored seven goals and was the first choice right-winger. Since that season, he intermittently popped up with goals and has scored twenty-five in total in his Everton career. There is no denying Osman’s ability but he came under heavy criticism when he was asked to play on the right wing for a large portion of the 2008/09 season. Leon is known for his excellent close ball control.
