25. Marouane Fellaini

Marouane FellainiDate of Birth: November 22, 1987

Clubs: Standard Liege, Everton

Position: Holding midfielder

Nationality: Belgian

Finest Everton moment: A titanic performance against Manchester City at Goodison Park in the 2009/10 campaign, which was capped off by an exquisite Marseille Roulette on Craig Bellamy which drew a spontaneous ovation from the home crowd.

Moyes signed Marouane Fellaini dramatically on deadline day in the summer of 2008. The Belgium was Everton’s record signing at £15 million and big things were expected of him, although he failed to set the world alight in his first season. He finished the campaign at the joint top scorer for the Toffees but did seem to struggle with the Premier League in his first season. It was fair to say he was a marmite player with Evertonians, and he remained as such until around November 2009, when he put in a string of excellent performances for three months in the holding midfield role (having played most of the previous season in a more advanced position). Unfortunately, Fellaini was injured in the Anfield derby in the 2009/10 season in a challenge with Sotirios Kyrgiakos.

Marouane made his comeback against Everton de Chile in the 2010 pre-season and is expected to regain the form he was showing shortly before his injury. Fellaini is noted for his ball control, tough-tackling and aerial ability.
