Short Stories
Rumours in the Italian media have linked Victor Anichebe with a move to German side Bayer Leverkusen.

With no quotes, and no figures mentioned, this rumour is far-fetched at best, but keep your eye out for Germans in suits at West Derby cashpoints...

Lee Carsley could make a shock move to Birmingham City, according to the Sun.

He will get a two-year deal — double what we are offering.

Zoltan Gera is apparently to be Everton's first new signing of the summer on a free move from West Brom.

The 29 year old Hungarian midfielder is set to have a medical with the Blues and will be joining when his contract officially ends at the Hawthorns.

Peter McKenna, the stadium director of Republic Of Ireland’s current national stadium Croke Park has said that Everton moving to Kirkby would not be ‘sensible’.

He said, “Kirkby is a new town by all intents and purposes; it was only established 30-40 years ago. Everton are doing almost what Twickenham have done. They’re taking people out of London and through all the consequential hassle there and they have to come back again.”

"Everton relocating would remove animation from one of the great cities. I can’t understand it; it doesn’t seem to me, to be sensible.”

He also took the time to praise Everton and described them as a 'great club':

"Liverpool is one of the sporting capitals of Europe and to take one of the great clubs out of it and put it in a non city centre location would be a mistake. There is such a massive history there; there’s been great football and great European nights. Why [move out of the city]? “

"I think Everton needs to make a courageous decision to stay in the city."
