Everton's Under 18 side will be in action on Monday as Carlisle United visit Finch Farm for a friendly match.

Carlisle are currently training near Preston and will also face Rochdale.

Marca, the Spanish sports paper, is reporting that Mehmet Aurelio has flown to Merseyside in order to sign for Everton.

The 30 year old defensive midfielder is apparently out of contract with Fenerbahce and ready to move to the Premier League after the Blues offered more money that Spanish Real Betis.

Aurelio is Turkey's vice captain and has played 20 times for his country (despite being born in Brazil!)

Everton are set to unveil Steve Round as David Moyes' new assistant manager today according to the Press Association.

The Blues have been locked in negotiations over securing Round's appointment for the last few days, but it is believed he will be at Finch Farm to meet his new colleagues today.

Everton 3 (1) - (0) 1 Newcastle United

Everton claimed our rightful place in European football again next season with a convincing win over perenial strugglers Newcastle, who looked a world away from a side that can possibly claim to be anything but exactly that.

Yakubu snatched his 20th and 21st goals of the season with a well taken header from a Manuel Fernandes free-kick in the first half, and Everton's first penalty this season late in the second. The Nigerian showed great strength and touch throughout the game, perhaps putting paid to the claims that he goes on holiday in the second half of the season.

Joleon Lescott, everyone and their dog's player of the season, grabbed Everton's second in between the Yak's goals with a coolly taken finish at the far post.

Newcastle offered nothing in return. Michael Owen scored from the penalty spot after the referee had been conned by a Newcaslte forward losing the ball under his feet, but to be honest, we've had a season of crap decisions at Goodison Park, so we half expected it.

The traditional End of Season lap of honour was a wonderful opportunity to say thank you for a great season, although when Lee Carsley waved to the Main Stand when he was substituted you couldn't help think he was saying goodbye. ...discuss this in our forum...
