David Moyes has admitted that his nerves did begin to go a little today when Newcastle United won a penalty early on in the first half, but thanks his Everton team for their performances this season.

"I want to say a big thank you and a congratulations to the players at Everton," said the boss. "From the first to the last, they've been there, and they've shown that with their performance today. I thought they played really well, passed the ball well, and made plenty of opportunities, but as usual made us hang on a little bit.

"I don't think we played nervy, I was confident that if we went about our business then we could win the game. I thought we had played much better at Arsenal and against Aston Villa the week before, so I think the players had shown a lot more confidence and that was evident today.

"I thought it was unjust that we gave away a goal, we gave away a sloppy goal straight from the kick off and the nerves began to jangle. But credit the players who stuck at it and got about their job and thoroughly deserved a victory." ...discuss this in our forum...
