Leighton Baines believes Yakubu can be the player to help turn Everton's season around.
The full back has watched on as the Nigerian international has made his comeback from injury and saw the 26 year old score against Hull in the Carling Cup two months ago. Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Baines told of his delight to see Yakubu getting back to his best form and insisted that the striker will eventually start to hit the goal trail again.
"Yak has looked like his sharpness is coming back. He had a horrible injury but there are signs he is ready to start doing what he does best again," Baines said.
“Players like him never lose that ability to score. He is immense and you’d back him in front of goal every time.
“It meant a lot to him to score against Hull (in the Carling Cup) and he showed that. We’re looking forward to having him firing on all cylinders again.”...discuss this on the forums
