Re: World Cup 2026

I can't wait for Saudi Arabia v Cape Verde, they should make it 64 teams. That's the one bit I don't mind. Well, Saudi I do mind a bit because of how they're using football to direct attention away from the choppy-choppy habits of their rulers but in general, having small teams there for whom this ...

Re: Things You Miss From Old Football

Apart from an ability to celebrate a goal when it goes in, what I miss most is the chaos of unseeded draws and a pure knockout format in European club tournaments.

Re: Thierno Barry

Another proper strikers goal that. The timing of the run across the defender and the finish were both top quality. That's what I loved most about this goal. There were no gimmicks, no lucky bounce, no being first to react (all great qualities to have, don't get me wrong), it was just a straightforw...

Re: Today's Football 2025-26

I think part of it is that the way teams play in the Premier League is so different that most European opposition don't see it worthwhile to spend two weeks preparing specifically for that one game against a PL team.

And tbf, it was a pen, it was the disallowing of a perfectly valid Senegal goal for the Moroccan defender's theatrical dive that was the mistake that fucked everything up.

I’ve missed all the drama but I’m assuming it looks like the game is a fix?
I don't think it is as straightforward as that but certainly Morocco as hosts seem to have deployed all the dirty tricks they could to tip the balance in their favour.
