Initially brought in as a ‘like-for-like replacement’ for the out-going Joleon Lescott, Distin was thrown in the deep end at the start of his Everton career. Distin remained at the centre of the Everton defence throughout his maiden campaign, despite an injury and a dramatic chain of centre- back partners (Yobo, Heitinga, Hibbert, Neill, Jagielka, Senderos). His main attributes are his strength and recovery pace.
