Yeah spot on, agree with all that.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2026 6:15 am To be honest ive got so many issues with this signing. Its not even that im writing him off. He plays in the position we are strongest in. We desperately needed pace and hes not remotely quick. He was way too expensive.
Even beyond all that you think well let's see him for a year in Holland or Germany but hes bloody homesick too.
There should have been numerous reasons we didnt make this signing. We ignored them all.
Im not saying hes shite and will never amount to anything. I just dont really think we have matches where hes what we need to change them, hes probably not going to want to go abroad on loan.
Maybe things change if we get some fullbacks in because he is a bit grealish but even then hes still going to struggle for opportunities because of whos infront of him
My endless complaints arent really about him. Its about all the people who ignored the red flags to sign him
Beyond anything else 40m for someone who went from Southampton to cheslea and had to leave cos he was homesick. The risks were just too numerous
Tyler Dibling

Re: Tyler Dibling
Will always back the club taking risks like this.
Still a lot of time for it to pay off.

Re: Tyler Dibling
*£32m not £40m. If we end up paying £40m he'll have met enough markers for the transfer to probably have been worth that if not more.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2026 7:42 am He will get more chances because we've little option but with hindsight I assume we all agree hed have been a pass at 40m
I think with hindsight the vast majority of the last 2 windows signings would have been passed on
Just have to take the long term view here, as with any 19 / 20 year old we sign. It was a lot of money but potentially in a couple of years we may well be thinking it was a good investment.

Maybe but if offered our money back today youd take it right?AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2026 9:58 am *£32m not £40m. If we end up paying £40m he'll have met enough markers for the transfer to probably have been worth that if not more.

Exciting teenage wingers is what its all about. Its exactly what we should be doing. It hasn't materialised yet but still a high probability that he will be a star.

Re: Tyler Dibling
I dont think anyone is suggesting we shouldn't sign exciting teenage players..... just that maybe we got the wrong 1 for a multitude of reasons
Re: Tyler Dibling
Yeah it hasn't paid off yet, but in 12 months time we might have a different opinion.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2026 12:41 pm I dont think anyone is suggesting we shouldn't sign exciting teenage players..... just that maybe we got the wrong 1 for a multitude of reasons
Re: Tyler Dibling
No. I'd rather give him time to become a fantastic player for us.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2026 11:29 am Maybe but if offered our money back today youd take it right?

Re: Tyler Dibling
Reddit via the Echo, could've posted this under Rohl thread but anyhow seems like they're still in the plans longer term. No mention of others so far. A bit of a softer tone here from Moyes though you might say compared with the more abrasive comments earlier in the season about Dibling.
----------------------------------------------
“Merlin, we like, Tyler, we like. Tyler, we're giving more time to because of his age. Merlin could have easily been involved in some more games and played a little bit more time. It'll do him no harm to have sat back for the best part of the season and looked at it. No, we like them, they're both good boys.”
“The team has been doing pretty well, so they've [the wider squad] not been required that often. It's always the ones who are not in who are the ones who you think can do a better job, so it's one of those things.”
“It's always the way, isn't it? You're always hoping that the opportunities come, and when they do, they're ready to take it. I hope they are ready, because we need it... I thought Tyrique came off the bench at Brentford and made a difference, [he] maybe didn't in the game on Sunday. So this is the thing, you never know what you're going to get. There's no guarantee, and we can name whoever we like. But we want them to come on when they do come on and make a difference.”
“I could think of other clubs not too far away, I could think of the levels of what would be expected, how many players are supposed to have been used.
"I think on average if you sign four I think one probably successful, I think that's somewhat the ratio in where it is. I think actually the players who've been here have done a good job, people like Kiernan and Jack have added to it as well. I think we've needed moments at different times from Merlin, and Tyler, a little bit less. Probably in the main we’ve been OK.”

Absolutely agree, nothing better for player development than sat in the stands watching. If i was a young player I'd be chomping at the bit to sign for us in the summer
