That's my thoughts about it. The refs have allowed Arsenal players to do what they want all season and even in that clip Trossard is holding down Pablo looking away from the ball whilst Rice is hauling down Mavropanos.
It was a terrible decision in the context of what's come before this season and it's going to be what wins Arsenal the title because Burnley will roll over at the Emirates and Palace understandably won't care 3 days before the Conference League final.
I think it's yet another one of those decisions where the ultimate thought process is "Which decision can we make that will cause less of a fuss?" and given it's Arsenal involved with their fanbase and media presence then it's always going to be the one which favours them.
It doesn't really bother me who wins the league as long as it's not them across the park and maybe Pep/Klopp raised the bar too high but it's consecutive years now where the winners of the league have gone to sides that aren't particularly impressive.
And Gabriel pulling Pablo's shirt off his back there too. The more you see, the more its astonishing.
Im same as you, I would slightly prefer City to win the league because of the reasons i have stated for hating Arsenal. I also prefer Spurs to go down because its kind of crazy. But also i dislike West ham so not mega fussed.
But i am bothered about the baffling decisions throughout the season. The amount of incredibly corrupt decisions we have had against us....imagine that was why we ended up relegated? I couldnt cope with that. I really do feel for West Ham fans, it is devastating.
It's the same as the Rodri handball against us... They don't want to make decisions that will affect the title race, as the closer it is the better the product they're selling around the world.
They don't care about who gets relegated, they just want to keep the title race going as long as possible.

Yeah I don't think it's as blatant as "What's good for the title race"
I think referees are under so much pressure, scrutiny and abuse that even on a subconscious level then there's certain occasions (like yesterday) where the name of clubs being affected have a big impact on the decision.
Because it's Arsenal and their fanbase are nuts and they're all over the media and it would 'cost' them the title then it would have been in the media until the world cup and the death threats would have been rife. Now it'll just blow over.
I think the most telling thing is none of us have any clue what they are going to give. The degree of interpretation of the rules is so wide that even after youve seen every angle youd just be guessing as to what they are going to decide
This west ham goal is brilliant in that it just highlights everything that they didnt want highlighting. The fact its arsenal who've been at it all season. The fact that they are still at it multiple times in this 1 incident. The fact that it goes for a big side. The fact it will probably decide the title race.
Its an absolute mess at this point. Even beyond the obvious bias its just become a framework you might consider rather than proper rules. They've lost complete control and they are mainly just ignoring it and then every now and then making it up as they go along
It cant be that hard. Even if you dont want to give penalties use var and book everyone wrestling then retake the set pieces....though the problem with that is that you cant trust them to follow the rules anyway
I doubt it'll happen, because clearly they're a decent side and could go on and win the CL too through more of this stuff...but if Arsenal do crawl over the line in the league, I kinda hope PSG absolutely do a number on them and score 5 or 6.
Without really being able to point to something specific, the Premier League just feels like it's in a bit of a weird place right now.

Anyway, Leeds not much of a threat so far. Spurs winning the ball back very well.
Spurs playing pretty well, will be interesting to see how they are if the game is still a draw with 10 mins left or so. Maybe that's what Leeds are playing for in fact, for Spurs to get nervier.
Don't think West Ham can afford for Spurs to get anything more than a point.

Game is there to be won for Spurs like and they've had chances. I think Spurs will be all over us based on this evidence.
If Spurs get 2 points from tonight and Chelsea then they'll be fine I think.
