Re: Hayden Hackney
You look at Palace forums and they are currently moaning that their club aren't just getting the deal done (''just pay the money Boro want, stop messing around'' type comments) and moaning that he reportedly wants to join Everton over them.
So when we step outside of our ''everything Everton ever do is shit, because I'm really pissed off with the end of the season'' bubbles, it's basically the same conversations going on at the vast majority of clubs, apart from the absolutely biggest, richest clubs who don't have to operate within the same financial rules.
Even Liverpool fans still moan that they wouldn't pay an extra few million to get Marc Guehi last year, and he's probably an £80-100m player now. With the benefit of hindsight, that's comfortably a bigger mistake than any we've made in the last few seasons.
The reality is you have to haggle and get the best deal you can, and if you don't do that, you're either being negligent and taken for a ride by the other club, or you're not operating in the same financial eco-system that the rest of the league is operating in.

We live in an instant world where people have zero patience and the attention span of gnat, as humans we're no longer equipped to cope with transfer windows.
Re: Hayden Hackney
Yep, I think he is the sort of signing we should be looking at but he's one of many we may or may not miss out on. I'm quite happy we are being linked seriously with a player like this. For all the Soucek jokes we don't appear to be heading in that sort of direction right now.

Im taking this as grieving period over, handbrake off, green light....Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2026 5:08 pm

Re: Hayden Hackney
I always laugh at this kind of 'journalism'. What does threatening even mean, have Palace said to us, 'right, you better bid what he's worth and buy him or we'll do it instead'.
