No there has been some unsubstantiated links that they're after him. Not a clue if it's bollocks or not though

Got it into it with Tarky if I recall correctly. Those two would make the beginning of some spine.

I think two things: (1) All of the criticism of his playing style here is fully warranted (2) He’d do a good job for us.

Not sure the price/wage will be right to justify it given his limitations though.

I’m sure a part of our fan base would love him running around tackling and chasing lost causes I would rather a finisher though someone like parrot who could drop a bit deeper and play in a 2

He might be ok in the right system but when have we ever played to our striker’s strengths?

I get terrified every time I see this thread bumped. Said before, by others too, but this has James Beattie mk 2 written all over it. Would be a terrible purchase.

Is Parrot a finisher, his stats would indicate not. At least Delap had kinda done it once in a decent league, Parrot has average stats in Holland and woeful ones in England

Heavily manager dependent.

For Moyes - basically never except when he had a selfless target man like Bent or someone who could balance target man duties with offering a threat in the box like Yakubu.

Ancelotti let DCL prowl the 6 yard box like Farke has at Leeds and got a similarly good return from him.

Lukaku was such a force of nature it didn’t matter how often Martinez shoved him out on the wing or asked him to drop off to try to combine with the midfield. As soon as there was a hint of space for him to exploit, he’d do it. Koeman got better results just lumping it to him in space the next season.

But yeah, that’s a pretty shit overall record.

I don't really want us to buy him, but I think he'd potentially be decent for us. My main issue would be the price, as he's not worth what Chelsea paid for him, let alone more.

Apparently he struggled last season due to a persistent injury that affected his running, and negated a lot of what made him good for Ipswich, so there's probably more to come from him than we saw last year. I'd take him on loan or for a fee of around £20m with some add ons, but otherwise I don't think there's enough evidence to suggest he'd be worth the outlay.

Only way I'd even remotely entertain this would be a loan with an option.

Think there's deffo a player there.

I called it as soon as he went there that he would absolutely bomb at Chelsea and I was right. Terrible career move for him, he chased the money so you can't blame him.

Be worried if we spent actual dough on him straight out. Who knows, he might suit Moyes system.
