Liam Delap
Re: Liam Delap
Wouldn’t mind seeing the ball somewhere in the vicinity of our strikers during a match
Re: Liam Delap
At Ipswich their team's scoring was focussed around him, had a greater reliance on him, and he was involved in a large proportion of their Goals and Assists. More than we placed on Barry and Beto.
Doesn't move the needle too far for us though I don't think, but a risk free loan with an option to buy wouldnt be bad for our options as he'd provide a difference. We've 3 positions in greater need though.

Re: Liam Delap
Barry - 8
Beto - 9
Delap - 2
Yes he can. Not saying he will be, but he most certainly can.
Re: Liam Delap
Apparently the club are happy with Barry and see Leipzig's interest as confirmation that we're on to something with him... So I just don't see us going after Delap if that's indeed true.
Most likely just a regurgitated rumour from last year given we desperately wanted to sign him then, but we have 2 strikers who outperformed him since then, and neither seem like they're leaving, meaning we have little need for Delap, nor the money to buy him anyway.

Are they really going to admit they made a mistake?AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2026 6:57 am Apparently the club are happy with Barry and see Leipzig's interest as confirmation that we're on to something with him... So I just don't see us going after Delap if that's indeed true.

Re: Liam Delap
Well if we could get our money back by selling to Leipzig, and the club thought he was actually shit, then I doubt very much they'd keep him just to save face, and then continue to play him out of some weird pride issue.

Re: Liam Delap
Fair enough, not sure what they would be happy about though, scored a few goals but overall play has been poor. He phoned it in, in numerous games.

Re: Liam Delap
Compared to Delap who both phoned it in and also didn't score any goals - with the bonus of playing dirty and risking getting sent off.Lazarou II wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2026 7:28 am Fair enough, not sure what they would be happy about though, scored a few goals but overall play has been poor. Personally I think neither Barry or Beto are good enough to be leading the line for a club hoping to finish in the top half - but I also think both are still better than Delap.

All three are not good enough for where we want to be, but we seem to be in this hobsons choice of shit, crap and turd.StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2026 7:36 am Compared to Delap who both phoned it in and also didn't score any goals - with the bonus of playing dirty and risking getting sent off.

Re: Liam Delap
Barry and Beto are fine.
Both had a decent record infront of goal last season.
I find it mad how people talk about Barry myself. He’s a good player imo

Imagine how many goals they might get if they got proper service like overlapping full backs and a proper winger opposite ndayie

Re: Liam Delap
Who knows and its probably not true but imagine seeing a young player in training every day and needing random outside interest to confirm if hes any good or notAjaxAndy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2026 6:57 am Apparently the club are happy with Barry and see Leipzig's interest as confirmation that we're on to something with him... Re: Liam Delap
Barry is a brilliant finisher, just doesn't seem capable, or doesn't want to play as a target man.
If he could develop that side then he'd be a pretty damn good player, but whether he can learn to do the physical side is another matter.
