Two solid days of Rugby League and a Rugby Union international won't have done it too much good either. All of the events hosted at the stadium will have paid the club a significant fee for the use of the stadium, and I'm sure that will cover the cost of replacing the pitch, and some.

If you take into account the amount of food and beverages served, along with the gate receipts for these events, then it probably amounts to quite a pretty penny. Of course the food and beverage receipts will primarily line the pockets of the club's catering partner, Aramark, but there will also be a healthy cut of that going into the coffers of the club too.

They wouldn't be randomly renting out the stadium if there was no profit in it.

It’s quite normal practice to replace the pitch each year. Normally done sooner ideally.

Yeah, even my local club Exeter City do that annually.

I'm pretty sure it was always in the plan, and may even have been mentioned when the pitch was laid - I think some of the surprise is that it's being done so close to the new season, whereas Anfield, Emirates, Old Trafford and others were done a month or so back.

It was probably a better bet to leave it late than to do it earlier and then break it in with seven games of the two codes of rugby over the two weekends. Think it's well worth it realistically.
In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.

Will be surprised if any local fans are in any way arsed about that.

Interesting seeing the fallout from the new Bills stadium around multiple intractible problems (sightlines, screens, atmosphere, etc.), and makes me appreciate even more the achievement that Meis et al pulled off given we have mostly solveable snags
