That actually sounds a little bit exciting, like they actually have a plan and know what they're doing rather than just throwing shit at the wall to see if it ever sticks, like a monkey in a zoo
Re: End of Moshiri - Friedkin, IT'S HAPPENING!!
The recruitment agency has had some negative comments I believe regarding their involvement in Roma, and no matter what any articles claim we won't be spending money on players in January... If we had wiggle room I'm sure we'd have spent that cash in the summer window. Thelwell also said we'd only just be under PSR this year as is.
I'll be glad when they come in because it's much needed, but I don't think we'll see much change on field until the summer.

Yeah, p&S changing to a wage to turnover ratio actually hindered us more than the old one that cost us points.
I haven't seen any figures for our wage bill since the activity in the summer though.

https://www.spotrac.com/epl/everton-fc/cap/_/year/2024
Has our wage bill at £74m this FY
https://www.capology.com/club/everton/salaries/
Has us on £69.3m
https://salarysport.com/football/premie ... rton-f.c./
Has us on £86m
Averaging that out gives us £76.4m
Our 22/23 turnover was £172.2m (don't think we've released 23/24 yet, we have till the end of Jan to do so?).
But with no turnover growth that gives us a wage-to-turnover ratio of about 44%. Which is a fucking HUGE improvement of a few years ago.

So we may have some wiggle room. Obviously the 44% doesn't include everything the SCR takes into accountThe two new trial metrics are dubbed Squad Cost Rules (SCR) and Top to Bottom Anchoring Rules (TBA).
The SCR would limit spending on wages, transfer payments and agents’ fees to 85% of their total revenue. TBA introduces an “anchoring” system tied to the TV revenue of the club that finished in last place and would be more similar to the hard caps that are common in U.S. sports leagues

I’m sure I read at the time that we curbed our spending in the summer due to Friedkin pulling out of their initial takeover, maybe wrong.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 8:44 am The recruitment agency has had some negative comments I believe regarding their involvement in Roma, and no matter what any articles claim we won't be spending money on players in January... Just looking at this purely from a player/behavioural point of view - I think that if you are an Everton player now, unless we get relegated, why on earth would you want to move in the summer that your club is moving into a brand new world class stadium?
This is especially true for someone like Branthwaite where he could just move in 2/3 years and get a huge contract/fight for titles at this point. And still only be in his early/mid 20s.
The players have suffered the pain and anguish of being an Everton player over the past 3/4 years. So for then something amazing to come along and then leave would be bonkers in my mind. Unless you are offered insane levels of money at City or if contracts are up and you are miles apart in terms of agreeing a deal, then I sort of understand it. But I don't think you will find one player angling for a move this summer.
I could actually see Jarrad being offered a massive contract to stay in the summer. Convince him to stay another couple of years at the new stadium on a big fat new contract, and then let him go for a big transfer to whoever he wants. This part is just me dreaming, but it wouldn't surprise me if TFG wanted to make a big statement.

It might have had an impact but I don't imagine we'd suddenly have £50m+ to spend on players and January is a notoriously difficult / expensive time to buy.Bluebridge wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 3:55 pm I’m sure I read at the time that we curbed our spending in the summer due to Friedkin pulling out of their initial takeover, maybe wrong.
I think we'd only see movement if say DCL or Branthwaite were sold.
