Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Well, that's pretty clear. As my previous post... we hold all the aces in this hand
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Pretty clear he wants to go and the system we play in is not working for him, which is clear. Who knows, we might get a RB and that might help change his mind and he gives us another season.
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
We had a top class player and we’ve fucked it with how we ended the season.
Could see how frustrated he was towards the end.
Hope the club get a move on to resolve this and get somebody in but I doubt it.
I certainly don’t see how we hold all the cards in this.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Or alternatively had he finished some of the chances he missed we would have qualified for Europe, so kinda goes both ways.TheRam wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 8:04 am We had a top class player and we’ve fucked it with how we ended the season.

Not overly arsed if he leaves, we bought for cheap, we'll make a big profit, and we sell whilst he's still young enough to command a decent fee. Exactly how we should operate rather than being all sentimental about retaining players like this.
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
No sentiment here. I’m not one of those saying he’s not the type to try and force a move.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 8:15 am Or alternatively had he finished some of the chances he missed we would have qualified for Europe, so kinda goes both ways.

You sell a player when you’re ready and prepared to sell him.
Offering a player multiple contracts suggests we want to desperately keep him but the player is taking that out of our hands.
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
I think it’s fair to say we are in a stronger position than him having 12 months left on his contract, but it’s also simply the case that these days players get what they want and the writing does appear to be on the wall in this case, and that our strength extends only to bargaining with the buying club and even then only extends so far.
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Yeah probably looking at £50m rather than the £60m - £65m we'd ask for if he wasn't wanting to leave.brap2 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 8:40 am I think it’s fair to say we are in a stronger position than him having 12 months left on his contract, but it’s also simply the case that these days players get what they want and the writing does appear to be on the wall in this case, and that our strength extends only to bargaining with the buying club and even then only extends so far.
It's still around £35m profit which is tidy, especially when you factor in remaining book value. Probably clearing about £40m in CSR terms which should give us enough for an adequate replacement (with pace hopefully) and a full back.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
For me, we don't have one single player at the club where I'd be majorly upset if they left (as long as the price is appropriate).
So yeah, crack on Illi. Good player, seems like a sound fella but we can get good money for him, especially when compared with his fairly limited G + A output.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Exactly, everyone has their price, and we won't progress keeping players who don't want to be here, and also we need a model of selling to reinvest as other clubs have successfully done.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 8:53 am For me, we don't have one single player at the club where I'd be majorly upset if they left (as long as the price is appropriate).

One gripe I have is that I think his output would be better with the right players around him, so by not having a functional team where he could maybe get 15+ goal involvements instead of 9, we aren't able to maximise his value.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
We don't have to sell him through necessity and he's got 3 years on his contract. Unless he puts in a request, we decide if and when. That's not a bad hand mateTheRam wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 8:04 am We had a top class player and we’ve fucked it with how we ended the season.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Sounds to me like we’ve been wanting him to stay, offered him multiple contracts and still haven’t taken the hint.Paddockoldie wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 9:15 am We don't have to sell him through necessity and he's got 3 years on his contract. Now he’s piping up basically saying the club doesn’t match my ambition.
I’d be surprised if we get what we want out of this which is either he signs a new deal or we get huge money.
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Another comment that needs to be made it what a buy he was. Great value and will be flipped for treble what we paid.
