David Moyes
Re: David Moyes
They've approached him, that's all. We still have hope until he's in the San Siro thinking "thank fuck they didn't sack Moyes"
Re: David Moyes
Another thing to throw on the annoyance pile. All season we've persisted with this long throw even though Mykolenko can barely make the box whilst JOB isn't much better. I don't think we've score a single goal from a long throw all season, so what was the point?
Re: David Moyes
That's annoyed me too. Just throw it short to someone who can cross...oh hang on that's a problemShogun wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2026 7:42 pm Another thing to throw on the annoyance pile. Re: David Moyes
Haha its ridiculous. We do long throw ins without having anyone who can throw it long. We dont even seem to have the good sense to load the area where they can throw it to so we can compete thereShogun wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2026 7:42 pm Another thing to throw on the annoyance pile. Re: David Moyes
Honestly, this annoys the shit out of me and the boy too, it's unbelievable. I can only assume that their short long throws are still a better option than Mykolenko or JoB try to cross the ball! - which I can believeShogun wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2026 7:42 pm Another thing to throw on the annoyance pile. Re: David Moyes
Honestly I don't follow football journalism very much - is there any sense of public pressure on Moyes and thoughts that we might actually get rid or is it just wishful thinking?
I saw a clip from a press conference of his this week and remembered why I avoid them, he's such a dour man when things aren't going exactly his way and gets defensive rather than proactive

There is no way. The media and other fans will think we are insane for wanting a change.StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2026 9:16 am Honestly I don't follow football journalism very much - is there any sense of public pressure on Moyes and thoughts that we might actually get rid or is it just wishful thinking?

A United fan mate last week was shocked when i told him i hope they replace him.....said we are mad fans and ungrateful.
Almost punched him.
Re: David Moyes
I think that will reflect a lot of others perception of us from the outside - we should be happy with our lot, a nice little cup run every now and again, roll over for the big boys and generally do nothing but finish mid table. This narrative was also drilled home from Moyes during his first tenure, we rarely underachieved, we were always punching.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2026 10:31 am There is no way. Did anyone act surprised when Amorim was sacked, no, but people still associate them with competing for the league, despite not winning it for 13 years? We have largely become irrelevant to the rest of the world, so I dont think they really understand the sentiment of the fans and what our hopes/expectations are.
Re: David Moyes
We are getting voted as overachievers on a few things for this season from opposition fans. Are we shit?
Re: David Moyes
It's a hard one to judge really, especially as we were competing for champions league with 7 games to go and then finished 13th.
Most opposing fans would look at our full backs of Mykolenko and O'Brien, our strikers of Beto and Barry, and our reliance on McNeil once Grealish was out, and think we probably shouldn't have even been above about 14th, and they'd probably be largely correct.
However it doesn't tell the full story, because really once getting ourselves in the champions league mix we should have at worst finished 9th or 10th.
So yes we are shit, and for most of the season we overachieved, but then by the end we underachieved, all whilst watching a stubborn manager refuse to change things when everyone could see they weren't working, and bet everything on a European spot at the expense of developing younger players, only to then fall well short.
It's a very mixed and hard to understand situation for anyone not a fan of us, and even then it's still quite confusing for us to dissect accurately.

Re: David Moyes
Also i would say that most other fans do not watch us or know anything about us. They see we have had a few years of only just surviving so see 14th/13th as overachieving.
They dont see the nuances throughout the season.

Re: David Moyes
My brother in law, who’s an Arsenal fans knows a few blues, including myself and he said he’s surprised to hear is all say we want rid of Moyes.
If we were to sack him it would cause the usual outrage in the press but I find it hard to see how we could replace him and get any worse than what we’ve seen over the last six months with this squad of players.

There's always an Allardyce equivalent out there.TheRam wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2026 4:37 pm My brother in law, who’s an Arsenal fans knows a few blues, including myself and he said he’s surprised to hear is all say we want rid of Moyes.

How many managers have we had since Moyes left the first time that were worse than what we've just watched this season?
"Challenging for x position after y games" is redundant - people haven't played everybody else until game 38. That's the point you can see your earned position (granted, our earned position was a distinctly underwhelming one with no year-on-year progress)
Re: David Moyes
The owners, CEO and others won't have the long memories we have about Moyes.
They just see a stable pair of hands whereas the fans have seen all this before. We know how the process works and how it ends.
I don't think we can expect the people making the decisions to know how fans feel as their sample size is a lot smaller than ours, so they won't want to fix something they don't see as broken.
