During my kid's under 11s today the opposition made a sub... As the new player ran on to the field his coach shouted 'remember... Dwight McNeil'.

I found this very confusing, was he reminding the kid the play like Dwight McNeil or actively warning him about the dangers of doing so?

I didn't find out the answer but the kid did a very good impression of McNeil dribbling the ball in to dead ends and being highly ineffective so presume he acted as his manager instructed.

Do we think anyone remebered to tell McNeil we were playing in black this evening?

Doesn't want to be here and his performances have shown that whenever he's played this season. Makes the sub even more bizarre, bring a player on who doesn't want to be here and the manager doesn't rate rather than a young player with a point to prove.

Was an unexplainable weird one that wasn't it.

Bet it was because Moyes thought we'd be more likely to score from a set piece than open play.

He's probably right tbf but if anything screams a lack of ambition then that mindset is very much it.

It was a titty lip sub, proper middle finger to the rest of the recruitment team.

Juvenile really.

Will always be remembered that little cameo.

One people being up in the pub in ten years time. “Remember McNeil at the stadium of light” followed by a solid hour of talking about other shite sub appearances.

Fabian Delph against arsenal springs to mind. Think he tried to clear a ball to start a counter that game and the ball ended up going twenty yards towards our own goal

We’ve had some right characters

Or Fabian Delph saying “everyone is fucking shit” before scoring an own goal against Bournemouth

Not seen such a decline in a player's profile for years. He's gone properly shite

Wasn’t the same after the injury though was he? Maybe not had enough games since then to get back to his best.

Yeah, hasn't seemed the same after that last long period out.

I don't really have a huge axe to grind with him as he was very pivotal in keeping us in the league for a while there.

Doesn't look right though is all you can say and I imagine he will be moving on before long barring a dramatic uptick in form.

Shop window I reckon, but you might be right.

Then again he cost only a smidge less than Barry so Moyes might want transfer$ value from his sale rather than another dead loss.
